In Local Blackjack News

Whilst not every blackjack player will be intrigued by developments in Iowa and South Dakota we feel it’s only fair that to bring some local blackjack news to add to the normal online blackjack news we bring from all the top sites.

For those who aren’t certain where Iowa and South Dakota are, the most important fact for this story is that they share a border and that on the Iowa side this border work is underway on a new gambling centre and golf resort called the Larchwood Casino. This new mecca for gambling is only a short distance inside the Iowa border and it is expected to have a big impact on South Dakota.

It has been estimated that nearly three quarters of all gamblers spending money at the new Larchwood Casino will be from South Dakota and that they will spend $55m every year. This a huge bonus for the Iowa state government as they will be reaping the taxes from this $55m. For those looking for new employment further estimates have shown that of the 755 jobs created, 679 will be going to South Dakotans.

SO those running the casino will be mostly from South Dakota and those playing in it will also be mostly from South Dakota but the actual materials required to build the casino will be coming from Iowa thanks to the Buy Iowa First policy that runs throughout the state. All construction and major purchases will be local bringing a much needed boost to the area.

South Dakota is yet to respond to this threat with State governor Mike Rounds seemingly unwilling to grant permission to a rival casino in Sioux Falls to keep gamblers and all important tax revenues in the state. Politics, we’d prefer to play blackjack but somebody has to do it.
