Hard Hand
A hand that contains an Ace but it can only be counted as 1 or any hand that does not contain an Ace.
Hard Total
The total that is made by the cards in a Hard hand.
Heads Up
This is when you are playing against the dealer and no-one else is playing.
Heat
Heat refers to the pressure that can be placed on a player to make a mistake. This can be done by the casino on players who are winning big.
Hi – Lo System
A card counting system that gives the cards certain values from -1 to +1 and you use the system to add up the values before betting on them.
Hi – Opt 1
This is a variant of the Hi – Lo system and they give cards with a value from 3-6 = +1 and the 10 value cards = -1.
High Roller
Name used to refer to a player who is playing often and betting big amounts at the same time.
Hit
What you say when you want another card from the dealer while playing Blackjack.
Hole Card
This is the dealer’s card that is face down in the game and is turned up second.
Hot Deck
Refers to a deck that is dealing good hands for the players.
House Edge
The Edge refers to the advantage that the house has over the player. This is expressed as a percentage and the players who wish to win need to reduce this edge
