There is so much more to the game of Blackjack than just following the rules. As Blackjack is a game of chance, just like all other casino games, the house will always have the edge, or the advantage as it is sometimes referred to. There are however certain things that you can do to increase the edge in your favour.

One of the most important things any Blackjack player should always remember is that Blackjack is not about trying to beat the dealer in getting closer to 21. The player’s goal is simply to beat the dealer period. The decisions you make, whether they are to hit, stand, split pairs or double down, are done with the purpose of getting a higher total score than that of the dealer, or hoping the dealer goes over 21 and busts. That’s it.

Always examine a Blackjack table first before you take your seat at the table. If for example it is a $5 minimum $200 maximum table, and the majority of the players have more than the maximum allowed bet in chips in front of them, that’s $200, then this is a fairly good indication that it is a winning table. Another tip is to see the amount of the bets being placed. In relation to our $5 table, if the average bets are more than the minimum, then this may also indicated that it is a winning table, as people often bet more when they are winning and less when they are losing. You should never sit down at a losing table.
