Basic Blackjack Strategies
To begin playing blackjack online, the player must be knowledgeable about the basic aim as well as the various aspects of the game. From the basic understanding, the player can start using basic strategies as soon as a hand is dealt. Advanced strategies are less apparent in the online version, but are worth learning for the ultimate edge.
The players aim is to get as close to 21 without going over or busting and to beat the dealers’ hand. With the dealer having one card face up, the player is immediately at an advantage. He can make a decision on whether to take a hit or another card, or to stand on their cards in hand.
Blackjack is played with the standard international 52-card deck. Suits make no bearing on the game, due to its numerical attributes.
During the 1950’s, it was realized that blackjack provided much better odds than many other card games. The simplistic play by player against dealer and the elimination of factoring in decisions by other players, proved its attraction.
The house advantage could be minimized and in some cases edged to the player. With publication of card counting tactics and publications on its mathematics, many casinos introduced multiple deck cards into the one game. This effectively sped up the game but was aimed at countering the advanced strategies being popularized.
Casinos can use any number of multiple decks from two to eight. Regular re-shuffling of the decks was also designed to counter card counting.
Blackjack is usually played in casinos at specially designed tables to accommodate multiple players. All players play against the dealer. The most important aspect here is that the pay out ratio and dealer rules are stated. In most casinos, pay out is stated as 3:2 or $15 pay out on a $10 wager.
