Blackjack Myths
There are several myths that are associated with Blackjack that people believe.
The first one is that you have to get 21 to win. You don’t have to get 21, as you only need to beat the dealer.
Card Counting can only be done by mathematical geniuses is another where in fact if you use the Hi – Lo system, where you need only be able to add and subtract 1. So that myth can be dispelled as you only need to be able to remember the value.
Where you sit at a table will give or take away any advantage that you may have. This is true in games such as Poker, but in Blackjack it doesn’t have any bearing on the game at all. The game is played individually so if the player next to you drops out it will not affect your game.
New decks are a less favourable for a player as the order will be shuffled and this is done by a shuffling technique that the casino possesses.
Blackjack has betting systems in place that are infallible is another myth. There is no system in Blackjack that is infallible as if there were everyone would be using it! Some systems help you to delay losing money in a certain way but over the course of a game players will lose.
The dealer being hot is one more where people think that as the dealer has won seven hands in a row it means that you are due a win. Again not true, because if you are on a losing streak the chances are you will keep losing.
