Blackjack Explainned – Dealing the Cards
After each player has placed their bets by placing their chips on the table, the dealer then deals two cards face up to each player. The dealer will also be dealt two cards, but one will be face up, and the other face down. The dealer will deal from his or her left to the right of the table in a clockwise direction. The dealer is the only person who can touch the cards. Under no circumstances should a player ever touch the cards. It is against casino rules.
After you have been dealt your first two cards, you may choose to draw an additional card, known as a hit, or sit. Depending upon what two cards you have been dealt, you may also have the option of doubling down or splitting. As a player you can sit on whatever amount you want. However, a dealer must draw to at least 16, and sit on anything over 17.
