About European Rules Blackjack
European Rules Blackjack is a usual game of Blackjack, but European Rules Blackjack removes the jokes and plays with 4 standard decks of cards. There is no surrender option and the dealer does not peek for aces. The rules are simple which makes for an exciting, fast paced game.
The dealer stands on 17 and hits on 16. You can split aces but you will only be able to hit once for each split Ace. You cannot deal a blackjack on a split hand but you can double down on an initial hand value of 9, 10, or 11. You can take insurance if the dealer’s up card is an Ace.
European Blackjack is played with two standard decks cards with blackjack beating any other hand with a value of 21. All picture cards, i.e. Jacks, Kings and Queens, have a value of 10. You can choose the value of an ace, either 1 or 11 and you can take up to nine additional cards to make a hand of eleven. If you hit a Blackjack you are paid out at odds of 3 to 2. If your hand ties with the Dealer’s hand, it is called a Push, the same as if you and the dealer get a blackjack. When the dealer gets a blackjack, you have lost and finally, if the dealer’s starting card is an ace, you can insure your hand.
